Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Impa
Impa is the second character on the roster, unlocked in The Battle of Hyrule Field by first activating the tower cutscene and afterwards capturing one of the three objective keeps. She joins the roster after The Battle of Hyrule Field.
Movement
Dodge chaining is Impa's best movement option under normal circumstances. However, her C1 can also be a decent option under the right circumstances. If you are approaching combat and only need one symbol (such as right before a one symbol short WPB), you can place a symbol from far away and use the C1 to quickly move to the enemy with the symbol.
Combat
Attacks
Base, No upgrades:
At the beginning of the game, Impa has five main combat tools:
- Symbols: These are the core of how Impa functions as a character. ZR spawns symbols, and they can be collected either by killing the enemy the symbol is attached to or doing a strong attack. Having three symbols makes charging up special attacks significantly faster, but makes the special attack slower, which makes planning Impa combat very important.
- C3: Impa's best combo for hordes. This can be guard cancelled, which does almost the same amount of damage faster but fills the special attack gauge less.
- C4: A great option for collecting three symbols at once.
- Stasis: In addition to the standard benefits of stasis, Impa's clones do extra damage on enemies that are stasised.
- Special attacks: Because of how quickly Impa's special attacks charge with three symbols, they can be part of her standard combat. In addition to damage, Impa's special attack will spawn and collect a symbol, meaning that doing a special attack with two symbols already is very powerful. A special attack with three symbols takes much longer and leaves Impa with only one symbol, which isn't as good.
Additionally, Impa's bomb rune is useful for her short WPWs.
WPW Chains:
One Symbol Short Rod: Impa's one symbol short rod WPW is much harder than her three symbol short rod WPW, but faster when applicable. Start by collecting one symbol, then use Impa's bomb rune. Dodge cancel the bomb rune and use your rod before the bomb's effect occurs. Follow it up with guard cancelled C3s until the gauge is empty
