Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Terms
Combos: A combo is a sequence of Y and X inputs. A combo will be notated with either a C or a Y, then a number, e.g. C5. The number is the number of button presses. C5 has 5 button presses. If the letter is Y, then all of the button presses are Y. If the letter is C, then the last button press is X. Character specific exceptions to this rule are explained on the respective character's page. Examples: Y4 means four Y presses. C3 means two Y presses followed by an X press.
Attacks: Any button press or combination of button presses that do damage or help with doing damage. Runes, rods, unique actions, special attacks, and weak point smashes count, as well as each individual Y or X press in a combo.
Chains: A chain is any sequence of attacks and combos. However, most of the chains you will hear about are specific sequences with specific jobs.
WPW: Stands for weak point wipe. These are specific chains that can empty weak point gauges from max. A chain counts as a wipe if it can wipe a moblin in meditative training.
Short WPW: A weak point wipe is considered short if it does not use stasis and is shorter than the best weak point wipe that uses stasis. For example, Impa with three symbols can easily wipe almost any weak point gauge after a rod. This is a short WPW. However, Link spamming C5s to break the weak point is not short because it is much faster to do one C5 and use stasis, then follow it up with a C4 and some bullet time. That combo is also not short, because it uses stasis.
Long WPW: Any weak point wipe that does not count as short.
