Majora's Mask

4th Day

4th Day is a glitch which changes the time to 6:00 AM on Day 4. Because it is not supposed to be Day 4 during normal gameplay, this glitch has various effects which are related to which day it is. This glitch is possible on all versions.

How to perform

  1. On the Final Day, look through one of the three telescopes shortly before 6:00 AM:
    • The Astral Observatory telescope
    • The telescope in Pirates' Fortress
    • The peephole in the back room of the Curiosity Shop
  2. Wait in the telescope until 6:00 AM. The game will attempt to pull you out to start the mooncrash cutscene.
  3. Press B to exit the telescope, before the moon crash cutscene begins.
  4. Instead of the moon crash cutscene, you will be returned to the room you used the telescope from, on Day 4.

How it works

When the clock reaches 6:00 AM on the Final Day, the game prepares the moon crash. It sets the day to 4 and the time to 6:00 AM, then starts a fade-out to the moon crash cutscene in Termina Field.

Pressing B in a telescope always starts a transition back to the room the telescope is in. However, the game never checks whether another transition is already in progress. Pressing B during the moon crash fade replaces the moon crash destination with the telescope's return point. The day and time have already been changed, so you arrive on Day 4 without the moon ever falling.

Scenes on Day 4

Most NPCs and objects are set to appear only on Days 1-3, so they will not appear on Day 4. Only actors set to appear at all times (or specifically on Day 4) will appear, similar to the vanishing actors on 0th Day.

This can be useful in some cases, for example, the void planes in the Woods of Mystery do not exist on Day 4, allowing for Grotto Overlay SRM.
