Ganonless

Ganonless is a legacy route category that completes the game with a Wrong Warp to the Credits from Deku Tree/Dodongo's Cavern/Fire Temple. One of these specific wrong warps is required because they were used in old Any% routes before Ganondoor was discovered. SRM is banned. Full rules can be referenced on ⁠Speedrun.com as always.

This is an optimal, somewhat challenging route. There is an alternative, easier route for beginners here (WIP).

This route requires the N64 1.0 version of the game because the Early Eyeball Frog glitch is 1.0-exclusive.

Equips usually happen after their parent bullet point, and are notated as (e.g.)

  • oot bombchu || mm bugs ( oot bomb ) || oot bottle

Parentheses indicate the slot the preceding item is equipped over. In this example, Bugs are equipped on the Bomb slot. Red lines surrounding an item indicate the specific C-Button is required. In this example, Empty Bottle must be equipped to C-Right.

In this route, which C-button each item is equipped to is important during one section to RBA bottles and Bombchu count. Other than that, they are your preference.

Rupee, Hearts, and Bombchu counts are notated as [ oot rupee | oot heart container | oot bombchu ] where relevant.

Route

Forest

This is the optimal Child section, which does Bottom of the Well Skull Push. For the easier Blank A route, which loses ⁠approximately 10-15 seconds, see Addenda § Blank A route.

  • Exit Link's house
  • Jump across white stepping stones for blue rupee
  • Enter Kokiri Shop
  • Get blue rupee behind the shop
  • Buy 1 Deku Stick
  • Leave shop
  • Get blue rupee behind Mido's house
  • Climb to Lost Woods
  • Naviless Aqua Escape

Kakariko

  • Jump in river halfway down (after first Octorok)
  • Get standard 15 rupees by floating down river
  • FWESS to Kakariko
    • Alternatively just backwalk to Kakariko and talk to the owl
  • Collect Cuccos and get bottle
  • Navi dive to Bottom of the Well

  • Skull Push to Bombchu chest
  • Vine clip void out
  • Leave, float up and backwalk to Hyrule Field
  • Owl skip
  • Drawbridge chains after night
  • Get all 60 chain rupees and enter Market
  • Clip into bazaar and buy Hylian Shield
  • Door of Time skip, Master Sword

Hookshot + RBA

  • Master Sword cutscene
  • Leave Temple of Time and Market
  • Double chu HESS to Kakariko
  • Sign HESS to Anju, get Pocket Egg
  • Enter Graveyard
  • Graveyard RBA with empty bottle on C-Right
  • Shield swipe to catch Bugs over Bombs
  • Enter Dampe grave while taking damage from Poe
  • Dampe race and get Hookshot
    • oot bombchu || oot hookshot || oot poe

  • Void after Dampe and leave grave
  • Hookshot Poe twice to kill it
  • Empty B bugs before catching Poe
  • Catch B bugs after catching Poe
  • Equip sword and Empty Bottle
  • Take damage from chuing grass for a Fairy drop
    • Fairy flex drop requires 1 heart or less; take more damage if you need to
  • Catch Fairy in bottle

Eyeball Frog

  • Leave Graveyard
  • HESS to Hyrule Field
  • HESS to Zora's River
  • Minor HESS off grass up to fence
  • Jump past fence by Octorok
  • Continue climbing up Zora's River
  • Mega past Sleepless Waterfall

  • Sign HESS in Zora's Domain to King Zora
  • Unfreeze King Zora
  • Hold R for Eyeball Frog Early
    • Must play fast enough now whenever the timer is on screen to enter Volvagia with 2 seconds
  • Sidehop down from top of waterfall
  • Leave Zora's Domain to Zora's River

Death Mountain area

  • Megasidehop clip to Lost Woods warp
  • Enter Goron City
  • Blow up boulder and HESS off it
  • Megasidehop clip to Darunia's room
  • Slash pot for heart before entering DMC
  • Pull statue to enter DMC
  • Slash far left pot immediately after entering DMC if not at 3 hearts
    • Must get this heart before the heat text disappears, otherwise reload DMC with 3 hearts
  • Megaflip to volcano to go around Bolero trigger
  • Enter Fire Temple, avoid fall damage using ladder

Fire Temple

  • Get ISG from Keese
  • Kill Keese and get ledge cancel using bombchu
  • Manipulate Darunia's room camera with Eyeball Frog
  • Double chu Return A, fix camera by pulling Eyeball Frog
  • Chu shuffle hover to first platform
  • Sidehop to second platform
  • Third-person Hookshot to target
  • Zombie jump to upper floor

Avoid taking damage from now to Volvagia.

  • HESS through flame walls
  • Roll into left flame wall to backflip through last wall
  • Fill up with heart pots if you took damage
  • Enter Flare Dancer fight
    • If Frog timer is below ~1m30s when entering, perform timerstops during the downtime in the fight
  • Kill Flare Dancer
  • Take elevator up and use bombchu for switch
  • Open Hammer chest
  • Drop down to the right, target the wall
  • Set up HESS and prepare for the timer
  • Clip just before timer ticks to 00:09
  • Equip and jumpslash into Volvagia loading zone

  • Store Hammer jumpslash
  • Volvagia with 9 crouch-stabbed chus
  • Catch bugs and bottle OI on blue warp
  • Timer Wrong Warp
