Steal Epona
It's possible to obtain Epona without getting either Epona's Song or racing Ingo by touching one of the three loading zones that are normally only reachable by riding Epona, triggering a cutscene showing Link jumping into Hyrule Field on Epona.
One of the ways to get Epona during normal gameplay is to jump over the lowest part of one of the perimeter fences while you race Ingo.
It is possible to hit the same loading zone simply by doing a staircase hover at the same location. This will give you enough height to be able to backflip over the fence.
Hover over fence as child
faster setup
This setup is difficult as it requires a frame perfect backflip. It is only slightly faster than the easier setup below.
- Get ISG
- Target the fence
- Turn and sidehop away
- Turn to face away from the fence
- Sidehop and shield drop a bombchu
- On the first frame possible, backflip and shield to hover
- Chu hover once more (chu -> shield -> backflip)
- Backflip over the fence
slower setup
- Get ISG
- Target the fence
- Backflip away (draw item if needed to avoid jumpslash)
- Release and re-press target to dry roll instead of siderolling
- Shield drop bombchu and turn around
- Hold shield and backflip around when the chu explodes to hover
- Chu hover once more (chu -> shield -> backflip)
- Backflip over the fence
Gold Skulltulas without Boomerang
As Child during nighttime, there are 4 Gold Skulltulas in Lon Lon Ranch. Normally, 2 of them require the Boomerang, but there are a few strats to reach them using hovers.
