Ocarina of Time
Practice ROM (gz)
The Practice ROM (aka "gz") is the main tool used for practicing speedruns of Ocarina of Time. This page will cover basic setup and usage but it is highly recommended to read the official manual to learn about the various features and how to troubleshoot.
- gz Download page - the patcher requires an Ocarina of Time N64 ROM and/or Wii VC WAD (if playing on Wii VC)
- ArthurOudini's gz video tutorials
- gz Manual
- Community memory watches sheet
Inject line microcode
There is a setting in the gz patcher that allows you to specify a ROM to inject line microcode into the practice ROM. This is optional, and affects very little of the practice ROM's functionality.
The line microcode allows gz to draw colored lines along each axis that mark an actor's position in 3D space. It can be injected by supplying either of the following ROMs:
- Hey You, Pikachu! (USA)
- Hey You, Pikachu! (JPN)
