Bug-Catching Net

The bug-catching net (frequently shortened to bug net or net) is a Y-item whose primary purpose is catching bees or fairies.

Location

In Kakariko Village just north of the tavern, there's a house with a bed-ridden kid inside. The sick kid will gift Link the bug net if you talk to him while Link has at least one bottle in his inventory.

Description

The bug net allows Link to catch bees and fairies and store them in bottles. It can also be used to deflect the energy balls in the Agahnim boss fights. In speedruns, this is normally used for added safety with the ability to catch fairies.

Doing an item dash on a bonkable fairy source can allow Link to instantly collect the fairy. A good example of this is item dashing at the bonk rocks just west of the Fortune Teller's hut.
