Cane of Somaria

The cane of somaria, frequently shortened to just somaria or the cane, is a Y-item spawns magic blocks.

Location

Somaria is found in the big chest in Misery Mire.

Description

When used, the cane of somaria will consume 8 MP (or 4 MP if the player has half magic) and create a somaria block. This block can be used to weigh down certain pressure switches in the game, and it can be dashed into (this will kick the block a large distance), pushed, or picked up and thrown. If the player presses Y again after spawning a block, the block will explode into 4 beams of energy that expand outward in the 4 cardinal directions. The block and the beams can damage certain enemies.

Somaria can also be used to create platforms that allow Link to navigate special tracks in Turtle Rock.

An item dash with somaria can be an effective move in speedruns. It will work both with placing a block and exploding an existing one.

Somaria can also be useful in glitch speedruns, primarily for somaria transition corruption and ancilla misslotting.
